Kamala Devi Harris ( conceived October 20, 1964) is an American attorneyand government official filling in as the lesser United States Senator for California since 2017. An individual from the Democratic Party, she recently filled in as the 32nd Attorney General of Californiafrom 2011 to 2017, and as District Attorney of San Francisco from 2004 to 2010. On January 21, 2019, Harris formally declared her battle to keep running for President of the United States in the 2020 United States presidential race.
Conceived in Oakland, California, Harris is an alum of Howard University and University of California, Hastings College of the Law. During the 1990s, Harris worked in the San Francisco District Attorney's Office and the City Attorney of San Francisco's office. In 2004, Harris was chosen District Attorney of San Francisco.

Kamala Harris was conceived on October 20, 1964, in Oakland, California, to a Tamil Indian mother and a Jamaican dad.
